If I Were Your Mother
Published in Library Binding by Morrow Junior (April, 1999)
Authors: Margaret Park Bridges and Kady MacDonald Denton
Average review score:

It's good to remember
I love this book because it reminds me of how sweet, magical, and all too brief childhood is. I've read it to and now with my daughter and we laugh at the specifics of the role reversal fantasy. The soft illustrations complement the gentle goodness of the story. It's a favorite at our house.

another gem by this author
This book is beautifully crafted, with extremely clever dialog. The author clearly demonstrates her understanding of the bond between mother and daughter. The book evokes wonderful images of a warm moment shared with a child. The illustrations too lend a great deal to the story.

Plays and Playwrights 2001
Published in Paperback by The Denton Group (01 March, 2001)
Authors: Martin Denton and Martin Denton
Average review score:

Quite Wonderful
Martin Denton has done it again! As a topnotch theatre reviewer, Mr. Denton has thoroughly scoured the New York City theatre scene and has assembled yet another marvelous anthology of the most outstanding new off- and off-off-Broadway plays of the season. There are nine distinctly different works presented in this one volume, and I can honestly say, every one is terrific. These are plays that will touch your heart, and tickle your funny-bone.

"Cuban Operator Please" is a heart wrenching story of a young Cuban-American man's unresolved relationship with his father, while in "The Language of Kisses," an estranged mother and daughter uncover their past and rediscover each other. "The Language of Kisses," by the way, is one of the most moving, stunning plays I've read in a long time. It's a story which will stay with you and haunt you long after you've finished the book -- this work alone is well worth the price of the entire anthology!

Then there are the plays which will make you laugh. "Velvet Ropes" is a laugh-out-loud theatrical delight where two naive souls, trapped in a museum, try to make sense of the artwork; "The Elephant Man - The Musical" (AKA, Pakky Derm, Superstar) is a very funny story of John Merrick's big break on Broadway; "House of Trash" is an uproarious piece with Preacher Bob Maggot, a garbageman moonlighting as a Baptist preacher, trying to hold his wayward family together; "Straight Jacket" is a hilarious satire of one of Hollywood's leading men (Rock Hudson perhaps?), who falls in love with his screenwriter.

"Word To Your Mama" is an awesome stream-of-consciousness journey through the past decade -- it will take your breath away. And, finally the fast paced "Fate" and the eight whimsical short plays that make up "Washington Square Dreams" are delightful.

To top it all off, Mr. Denton's Introduction includes a most brilliant critical essay on each of the plays. PLAYS AND PLAYWRIGHTS 2001 is really quite wonderful! Buy it. Read it. You'll be glad you did.

Denton again finds the very best !!
Having just finished my pre-view copy of Martin Denton's newest anthology of the up-and-coming playwrights of this new century, I am, in a word, impressed. Not just with the obvious talent and re-assurance that theatre is alive and well and will continue to be so in the future, but with the ability of Denton to seek out and discover the best of the best. I often go to NY for theatre week-ends and enjoy seeing the "off-off" Braodway as well as the "on". Denton is certainly the best source I have found for "what to see and why". I applaud his continuing to "get the word out" about all this fabulous young talent. The only play in this current anthology I have seen is "The Elephant Man, the musical", by the multi-talented team of Jeff Hylton and Tim Werenko, and I must say Denton's comments and reviews are "right-on". I too, am "hooked" and a "Jeff Hylton fan", and throughly agree, "the world needs more Jeff Hyltons and Tim Werenkos", and I would feel this was even if I were not Jeff's mother. Reading the other great selections and Denton's reviews make me want to see them all. Thanks Martin Denton...Keep up the good work!!!

Say Good-Bye To ADD And ADHD

Say Good-Bye To ADD And ADHD
The book hits the problem on the head, conventional thinking on this suject has been "dope'm and forget about it".
Dr. Devi as she is called should get a nobel prize for her work in this field and on allergies.

My Child's Freedom From ADD Through NAET
I watched Katie Couric today, January 16, 2001, on NBC at 8:00 am news talkng about ADD and ADHD. It broght a shadow of sadness in me when I saw some of those children under Ritalin going through unlimited struggle to lead a normal life and I decided to write this article. Most people do not know that their children suffer from ADD due to food and environmental allergies. If they stayed away from allergens, they may not have to be depending on Ritalin to live.
A friend gave me this book "SAy Goodbye To ADD and ADHD" by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad. I stayed whole night and read the book. Tears began rolling down my cheeks as I was getting to the end of the book. After all, there is cure for my child's problem! Immediately I made an appointment for my child. Yes, he took almost two years' of NAET. But he is absolutely free of ADD today. Thank You Dr. Devi, for creating NAET. We owe our lives to you. This book will show the reader to make your or your child's journey easy if you suffer from ADD or ADHD. I like to inform parents of other children with ADHD that it is worth reading this book if you have someone woith ADD. Whenever I see articles and negatives comments written on ADD/ADHD saying that it is an incurable disorder and/ or one has to be on medication forever, etc, my heart hurts. When I see many ADD children suffer from the pangs of this illness, and when they end up being ADD adults and lead miserable lives as adults (I know many of them in my circle: school, college, friends, etc.), I feel the urge to shout out to them that "you don't have to live with ADD or ADHD. You have a way out within your reach. If there is a need, there is a way. It is true. Just read this book. Your life will change. You need to get NAET treatments and you won't be the same again." NAET has transformed my child into a normal human being. I am sure if these parents found NAET, many of their children could become normal too. Children are our future. If we could help our children get healthy, we would have a healthy future.

The Search of a Lifetime
Published in Paperback by 1stBooks Library (October, 2000)
Authors: Kathryn M. Denton and Teresa M. Cummings
Average review score:

A thoroughly detailed account of a birth mother's search
This was literally two books in one! Kathy Denton's account of searching for, and finding, (though not meeting) her daughter was very detailed and she provided excellent search tips on finding missing people along the way. Her sister, Teresa Cummings, added a lighter side to the book in her contribution of "Spynet, A Fable", a search for a missing town. It is interspersed throughout the book, providing a step-back-and-breath break from Kathy's emotional search. Kathy includes many internet sites and all kinds of other places to go to aid in your search. It really is a handbook for searching!

The Search of a Lifetime-- AWESOME BOOK!!!!
Very Interesting and Captivating, and then some! I am a Bmom, who is searching for My Son. These authors, have put together tons of information, which I have found to be most useful. As I read the book, I felt like I was right along with Kathy, as I have so many of the same feelings, as she did! It is a MUST read for ALL Bmom's who are searching for their child/children. Once you start reading it, You won't want to put her book down... Do yourself a favor, pick it up today, and be Captivated, from start to finish. 5 STARS +

Excellent Canadian Anthology of Poetry!
As a teacher in Canada, it is nice to know that there are talented Canadian poets and this book, compiled by David Booth ( who also wrote the teacher friendly 'Poems Please" )is a fantastic anthology to showcase the talent. The selected poems range from subjects of nature to family and friendship. I especially appreciate " A Mosquito in the Cabin " by Myra Stilborn- a poem read with relish on a recent camping trip! This is a must have for teachers teaching poetry.

One of the best poem books you can read!
This is a really great book. I recommend reading at least one poem a night for your children, I epecially enjoy "unicorn," with its great use of Rococo and style. All the poems are great!

The X $eries - The Money Guide with Gen X Appeal
Published in Paperback by J & R Associates (15 July, 2001)
Author: James Denton
Average review score:

For people who hate to balance their checking accounts
Author and member of the "Gen X Generation", James Denton's The X $eries: The Money Guide With Gen X Appeal is a compact money guide tailored specifically to appeal to America's Generation X, with a "don't beat around the bush, cut to the chase" approach to teaching how to manage and invest money in the new millennium. The X $eries is a "how to" and "why to" book for people who hate to balance their checking accounts, let alone an investment portfolio, and offers strategies to make your money work for you without constantly bean-counting to make sure you're in the black. Written in plain, ordinary language with a friendly, entertaining atmosphere and the occasional black-and-white picture of energetic men and women, The X $eries is truly a financial book that anyone and everyone from any generations can read, enjoy, and soundly understand. An excellent and highly recommended introduction to the art of in-vestment.

Not Just for Gen Xers
Whether a Gen Xer or not, you will not put this book down. The author presents real practical solutions for those who are living paycheck to paycheck, overwhelmed by debt and not saving or investing for their retirement. At last a better system for planning personal finances for those who hate budgets. Also, by using the tips on "Negotiation-the art of asking", I recently saved ... on an appliance purchase. The X-notes at the end of each chapter provide great summaries to refer back to later. Anyone who reads this book will come away with at least one valuable and easy to implement idea.

"Boats of Alaska"
Having married into a commercial fishing family in early '50's and fished among and on many of the style boats illustrated here, I appreciate Mr. Denton's love for the boats and the sea. He has done a wonderful job . . . . would like to see more of his paintings. Enjoyed Clem Tillion's foreword, too. . . . these gentlemen know the Alaskan fishing industry.

Although my generation is much more rcent than the rock and roll legends of this book, I found the novel entertaining, exciting, suspensful, and with a great sense of humor. Even rock-and-roll fans, if not sci-fi fans, should read this treasure!
